Picture Western childhood toys weaved with Filipino representation. Envision a teddy bear donning a barong or a Lego jeepney. This concept revolves around reclaiming our childhood as Filipino children in the diaspora, shedding the shame associated with being Filipino in environments dominated by white cultural norms.
The design also seamlessly incorporates toys and games rooted in the Philippines, serving as a tribute to the beauty and richness of our culture. All while acknowledging the shared experiences of our Kapwa who grew up in the homeland, recognizing that there is not one representation of the Filipinx/a/o childhood experience.

About Kabangka and Pinoys on Parliament
Kabangka is a non-profit organization that originated from the establishment of Pinoys on Parliament (POP) in 2019.
Founded in 2018, Pinoys on Parliament, also known as POP, is a yearly national leadership conference for young Filipino/a/x-Canadians held in Ottawa, Ontario.
When members of the Filipino Students Association of University of Ottawa (FILSAUO) reflected on how Filipino/a/x-Canadians are underrepresented in the Canadian government, they felt a need for a space where they can network, and learn from leaders in the fields they want to succeed in.
