Ang Pride ay Protesta. Pride is a protest.
This shirt is a tribute to that resistance: to the bricks thrown at Stonewall, to the legacy of Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, all the black and brown trans beings who fought, and to the fierce spirit of every trans and queer life taken too soon.
The front design features bricks, an ode to the first Pride riot, intertwined with chrysanthemums and poppies, symbolizing the birth flowers of Filipino trans woman Jennifer Laude and Black trans icon Marsha P. Johnson.
On the back, we honor the memory of Jennifer Laude, Ebeng Mayor, Lenie Perez Rivas, Estee Saway, Tats Tumicad, Cindy Jones Torres, Junjie Bangkiao, Mhelody Polan Bruno, Madonna Nierra, and Jessa Remiendo - Filipino trans and queer folks whose lives were cut short by state violence, neglect, and hate.
The back design translates to:
Still fighting for Jennifer, Ebeng, Lenie, Estee, Tats, Cindy, Junjie, Mhelody, Madonna, and Jessa. For those we've lost, and for those who continue on toward liberation.
Their fight lives on today. Pride is protest. Pride is remembrance. Pride is resistance.
